About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide L2 operational support for Walmart’s global enterprise network infrastructure across store, distribution center, data center, GWAN, and DDI environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents affecting business-critical services
  • Participate in major incident management calls and technical resolution activities
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Collaborate with L1 operations teams on escalations and knowledge transfer
  • Support routing, switching, wireless, WAN, and DDI technologies
  • Assist with infrastructure upgrades, migrations, deployments, and operational readiness
  • Review network changes and support operational compliance and risk mitigation
  • Collaborate with architecture, engineering, security, and cloud teams on new initiatives
  • Drive operational excellence through monitoring, observability, and performance optimization
  • Identify recurring issues and contribute to long-term network stability fixes
  • Develop runbooks, SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge articles
  • Participate in on-call rotation and support 24x7 production operations when required
  • Support and enhance automation solutions and automated remediation workflows
  • Support telemetry, monitoring, analytics, process standardization, and modernization initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or 3 years’ experience in large-scale networking environments or related area
  • 3–5 years of experience in enterprise network engineering and operations
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise routing and switching
  • Hands-on experience with wireless networking technologies
  • Experience with WAN/SD-WAN environments
  • Experience with data center networking
  • Experience with DNS, DHCP, and IPAM solutions
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Versa, or Infoblox
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, STP, HSRP/VRRP, VXLAN/EVPN, WLAN architectures, and DNS/DHCP/IPAM
  • Experience troubleshooting enterprise network environments
  • Basic to intermediate automation/scripting experience using Python, Ansible, REST APIs, or equivalent tools
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience supporting retail or globally distributed enterprise environments
  • Experience with network monitoring and observability platforms
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and ServiceNow workflows
  • Exposure to SRE practices and operational excellence methodologies
