About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain and repair Walmart facility refrigeration and HVAC equipment and assets
  • Use commercial HVAC and refrigeration skills, hand tools, digital tools, power tools, and other equipment to complete jobs
  • Use the work order management system to receive repair work orders, support stores and associates, and document repair activities
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls
  • Inspect, operate, and test facilities, equipment, and fixtures to diagnose issues
  • Complete required training to operate equipment and tools safely
  • Perform work according to Walmart refrigeration/HVAC safety policies and environmental guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations and guidelines

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years’ experience in commercial refrigeration HVAC maintenance
  • Large-scale rack refrigeration experience
  • Option 1: Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related commercial HVAC/R and building controls
  • Option 2: 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field
  • Current Type I and Type II or Universal EPA certification for refrigerant handling
  • HVAC-R/mechanical journeyman qualification where required
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report
  • Commercial driving record requirements: no DUI, DWI, or OUI convictions in the last five years; no more than two moving violations in the last three years; no preventable commercial vehicle accidents in the last three years; no serious traffic violations under Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations in the last three years
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to move up and down ladders and work comfortably at heights frequently
  • Preferred: completion of a 2-year vocational or technical HVAC/R program
  • Preferred: experience with word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Preferred: mechanical license in the city and/or state where the job is located
  • Preferred: experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Preferred: experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
