About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Drive architecture, design, and maintenance of advanced frameworks for Walmart Marketplace capabilities
Design, code, debug, optimize, and monitor application health
Manage the Walmart Marketplace Platform for experience and API
Enable third-party sellers to use services from Solution Partners
Make strategic architectural decisions and maintain comprehensive documentation
Spend approximately 60% of time on hands-on coding, code reviews, debugging, and optimization
Mentor junior engineers and foster continuous learning and professional growth
Collaborate with product, UX/UI, and cross-functional teams on seamless integrations and user experiences
Improve application quality, performance, and monitoring; proactively address critical issues
Lead technological advancements, innovation, projects, and technical initiatives
Develop project timelines, manage tasks, and ensure timely delivery
Provide strategic technical guidance and coordinate with other teams
Uphold engineering excellence and resolve complex technical challenges

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; alternatively, 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
Proficiency in microservice architecture for backend services
Expertise in TypeScript and frontend frameworks such as React
Deep understanding of distributed systems, RESTful APIs, system design, and microservices architecture
Proficiency with version control systems such as Git and CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases and caching solutions
Experience working in platform teams or building shared tools and frameworks
Ability to write clean, testable, and maintainable code
Prior experience with cloud-native technologies such as GCP or Azure and DevOps practices
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated leadership abilities to lead projects and mentor junior team members
Experience in e-commerce or marketplace platforms
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
Exposure to developer productivity, observability, or DevOps tools
Preferred: Master's degree with 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area
Preferred: knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices
