About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and deploy prescriptive machine-learning models for high-impact pricing and markdown needs
- Perform elasticity analysis across large datasets and category segments
- Own the end-to-end Price Recommendation lifecycle, including scoping, feature engineering, causal modeling, A/B experimentation, and performance optimization
- Develop pricing and optimization solutions using causal inference, elasticity analysis, reinforcement learning, deep learning, and uncertainty quantification
- Build explainable pricing systems and provide stakeholder-facing narratives explaining price recommendations
- Apply graph-based modeling to capture cannibalization and halo effects across product hierarchies and locations
- Establish evaluation and monitoring through historical backtesting, drift detection, and calibration of price-response curves
- Build Agentic workflows for chat-based price explainability and what-if scenario planning for merchants
- Collaborate with Product, Business, and Engineering teams to set technical direction
- Mentor data scientists and machine-learning engineers
- Research and develop AI algorithms supporting pricing, markdown optimization, price recommendations, price elasticity, assortment optimization, supply chain, replenishment, and store layout
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years in Data Science or Applied ML, or PhD plus 5 years
- Deep hands-on exposure to pricing, elasticity, or causal modeling
- Experience delivering production-grade optimization models with measurable financial outcomes
- Strong knowledge of seasonality, competitor indexing, promotional impact, regime changes, and price-point psychology
- Hands-on experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow and modern decision-focused AI architectures
- Practical experience with Explainable AI and communicating model reasoning to non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent Python coding skills
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including testing, CI/CD, and MLOps
- Minimum qualification alternatives: bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field plus 4 years' analytics experience; master's degree in one of these fields plus 2 years' analytics experience; or 6 years' analytics or related experience
- Immigration sponsorship is not available; applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
- Preferred: causal inference and decision science, advanced graph learning, Spark, feature stores, distributed cloud training, human-centered AI dashboards, LLM-based agentic frameworks, and open-source frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and Torch
