About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork and control panels
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in commercial and industrial equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on refrigeration units, walk-ins, and HVAC systems
  • Follow OSHA and EPA 608 refrigerant-handling protocols
  • Lead and mentor field teams and provide technical guidance
  • Manage service calls and coordinate with external providers
  • Maintain accurate documentation and inventory
  • Operate company vehicles safely to complete service assignments within assigned regions
  • Collaborate with management, team members, and business partners to prioritize tasks and deliver timely service
  • Participate in on-call rotations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls, or 4 years’ relevant experience instead
  • EPA Type I and Type II or Universal certification for refrigerant handling
  • HVAC-R/Mechanical Journeyman qualification where required
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report
  • No DUI, DWI, or OUI convictions in the last five years on the commercial driving record
  • No more than two moving violations in the last three years on the commercial driving record
  • No preventable commercial motor vehicle accidents in the last three years
  • No serious traffic violations under Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations in the last three years
  • Experience installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial or industrial settings
  • Ability to interpret layout plans, schematics, and building codes
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues and implement preventive maintenance programs
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery and company vehicles safely
  • Ability to lead and mentor field teams and manage escalated service issues
  • Drug-free workplace and compliance with Walmart’s policy regarding illegal drugs and alcohol on the job
