About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Installs HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork, control panels, and building pneumatics.
  • Configures and calibrates low ambient systems and direct digital controls to meet operational specifications.
  • Diagnoses and resolves mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues across commercial and industrial systems.
  • Implements preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and minimize downtimes.
  • Ensures the proper operation of HVAC systems and Energy Management Systems through routine checks.
  • Leads field teams and mentors less-experienced Technicians and Apprentices on technical procedures and safety practices.
  • Manages escalated service issues and coordinates with external service providers as needed.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls, or 4 years’ experience without certification.
  • Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report with no major violations or preventable accidents in the last 3 years.
  • Preferred: Completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical HVAC/R program; experience with software like Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams; and using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
