About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and distributed systems that power Walmart Pharmacy platforms.
Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while participating in code reviews and technical discussions.
Contribute to CI/CD automation, observability, monitoring, and operational excellence initiatives.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, and other coding assistants to accelerate feature development, automate repetitive tasks, generate tests, and improve code quality.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Experience developing scalable backend applications using Java, object-oriented programming, APIs, microservices, and cloud-native technologies.
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with experience troubleshooting production issues and implementing sustainable solutions.
Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, observability, monitoring, and software quality best practices.
Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while collaborating effectively with engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams.
Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor etc. to accelerate development, improve code quality, automate testing, and enhance engineering productivity.
Proficiency in applying AI-powered workflows for code generation, refactoring, debugging, documentation, and troubleshooting while maintaining high standards for security, reliability, and maintainability.
