Key responsibilities & impact

Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of data scientists and ML engineers
Drive data science initiatives aligned with Walmart's business goals
Collaborate with senior management to identify opportunities for data science
Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of complex data science projects
Ensure timely completion of projects within budget while maintaining quality standards
Design, build, and deploy machine learning models
Collaborate with engineering teams for data pipelines and infrastructure
Establish processes for data integration, quality assurance, governance, and compliance
Partner with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions
Communicate insights effectively to drive decision-making

Requirements

What you’ll need

PhD with > 7 years of relevant experience / Master’s with > 10 years of experience / 4-year bachelor’s with > 12 years of experience
Educational qualifications preferably in Computer Science or a strongly quantitative discipline
Proven track record of leading data science teams, including hiring and coaching
Experience managing hybrid or remote teams
Strategic planning to align data initiatives with organizational goals
Experience partnering with product, engineering, and analytics teams
Ability to translate technical insights into actionable business strategies
Strong storytelling with tools like Tableau or Power BI
Strong communication skills with inclination to high ownership and commitment
