About the role

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a high-performing team of data engineers, fostering their professional development and career growth.
  • Cultivate a team culture of innovation, collaboration, and engineering excellence.
  • Direct the architectural design, development, and ongoing maintenance of the Health and Wellness data lake.
  • Oversee the creation and optimization of robust, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for both real-time and batch data processing.
  • Guide the implementation and management of enterprise-level data warehouse solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to develop and launch new data-driven products.
  • Drive the end-to-end development of scalable data and analytics solutions to address key business needs.
  • Establish and champion best practices for data quality, integrity, and reliability across all systems.
  • Implement and enforce data governance and security policies to ensure compliance with industry regulations like HIPAA.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • Possess a minimum of 12 years of professional experience in data engineering, with a proven track record.
  • Demonstrate successful experience in designing and implementing large-scale data solutions.
  • Have at least 3 years of leadership experience, effectively managing and mentoring data engineering teams.
  • Previous experience in the healthcare, pharmacy, or life sciences domain is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrate expert-level proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and building data-intensive applications.
  • Possess extensive hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data services, including BigQuery, Dataflow, and Dataproc.
  • Show strong expertise in designing and orchestrating data pipelines using tools like Airflow.
  • Have hands-on experience with big data processing frameworks, particularly PySpark, for large-scale data manipulation.
  • Exhibit advanced SQL skills for complex data querying, analysis, and performance tuning.
  • Be familiar with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI to translate data into actionable business insights.
  • Display proven leadership ability with a team-first mentality and a passion for mentoring engineers.
  • Possess excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders.
  • Maintain a strategic and analytical mindset, with a strong ability to solve complex problems and drive innovation.
