About the role

  • Oversees supply chain standards of grocery products in a distribution center as they flow from suppliers through distribution centers to stores and clubs.
  • Inspects inbound fresh products; dairy, deli, freezer, produce, and meat for adherence to Sams Club specifications.
  • Participates in companywide initiatives to control costs and deliver high quality products to Sams Club members.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Monitors Seafood Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) plan.
  • Monitors Sams fruit ripening program.
  • Monitors cold chain compliance within the distribution center to ensure products are kept at proper temperature.
  • Provides communication on fresh product supply chain standards to the merchant group and other relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agronomy, Food Science, or related field and 2 years of experience in agricultural quality control, agronomy, food retail management, or related field OR 4 years of experience in agricultural quality control, agronomy, food retail management, or related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in vendor management, food safety or a related field (preferred).
  • 2-3 years of experience in the poultry or meat industry, preferably quality related (preferred).
  • 3 years of retail produce inspection experience or USDA inspection experience (preferred).
  • 2 years of fruit ripening experience (preferred).
  • 2 years of experience using basic Microsoft Office functionality.
  • Data driven experience (Power-bi, Ai).
