About the role
- Lead and develop teams effectively by teaching, training, actively listening to associates, touring stores and providing feedback (TourtoTeach).
- Communicate and collaborate with all levels of associates regarding store operations, technology, business initiatives, merchandising, and company direction.
- Introduce and lead company change efforts, providing clear expectations and guidance to implement business solutions and communicate business objectives.
- Model and demonstrate exceptional customer service standards to store associates by following and demonstrating the One Best Way (OBW) service model; manage and support customer service initiatives and resolve customer complaints and issues.
- Drive financial performance and sales of the designated store area by reviewing and evaluating P&L statements, managing and assisting in budgeting, forecasting, and controlling expenses; monitor merchandise presentation, seasonal transitions, inventory flow, and operational processes.
- Develop and implement action plans to mitigate shrink, correct deficiencies, and ensure sales and profit goals are achieved.
- Provide supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates by hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, setting clear expectations, providing recognition, and developing qualified associates.
- Coordinate, complete, and oversee job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, supporting plans and initiatives, identifying and communicating goals, building accountability, and measuring progress.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and support company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity; utilize and support the Open Door Policy.
- Promote Walmart culture: respect the individual, act with integrity, serve customers and members, strive for excellence, drive continuous improvements, and support change adoption.
Requirements
- 2 years’ of college; OR 1 year’s retail experience and 1 year’s supervisory experience; OR 2 years’ general work experience and 1 year’s supervisory experience.
- For facilities that sell firearms: successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training.
- For facilities that sell only ammunition: may require a current state issued Certificate of Eligibility (where applicable).
- Associates will be required to attend and successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments (for example, Academy trainings, Open Door trainings, etc.).
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University.
- Preferred: Certificate of Completion in People and Business Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University.
- Preferred: General work experience supervising 5 or more direct reports including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.
- Commitment to a drug-free workplace and no tolerance policy regarding illegal drugs and alcohol on the job.
