About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Technical lead role in design for new and rehabilitation of conventional and complex bridges
- Technical lead for analysis, design, construction support services for various bridge types
- Prepare geometric/bridge layouts, construction specifications, and material quantity calculations
- Prepare Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) packages
- Review shop drawings produced by fabricators and detailers
- Conduct various types of bridge load ratings
- Conduct bridge inspections/scoping and condition assessments
- Detail oriented with an emphasis on quality work products and deliverables
- Assist with proposals, marketing, project reports and technical presentations
- Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development
- Attend client, public, project, and staff meetings
Requirements
What you’ll need- bachelor's degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering
- a minimum of four years of transportation structural/bridge design experience
- a PE license
- a current NHI Bridge Inspection certification (preferred)
- familiarity with structural analysis and design of conventional and complex bridges
- experience in preparing MDOT, ODOT, or other DOT’s, and Local Agency bridge design packages
- software experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MicroStation/Geopak/ORD
- knowledge of AASHTO, AREMA, and DOT design standards
- excellent technical writing, organization and communication skills
- self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively
