Accounting Lead
WA.TechnologyAccounting Lead managing daily accounting tasks and core financial processes at WA Technology, a B2B iGaming solutions provider.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Take ownership of the daily accounting tasks and overall accounting function
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate, timely monthly reconciliations of balance sheet and income statements
- Prepare and process supplier payments.
- Post bank transactions and reconcile the banks in multiple currencies (including crypto) and multiple entities
- Manage inter-company accounting and perform inter-company reconciliations.
- Assist with the preparation of consolidated monthly management accounts.
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns in a timely manner
- Review and prepare compliance reporting, including Corporation Tax submissions.
- Maintain the fixed asset register, including calculation and posting of depreciation.
- Work closely with the wider finance team and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency
- Provide additional analysis and financial support to the Finance Director, including standard and ad hoc reporting.
- Support external audits by preparing audit schedules, responding to requests, and resolving identified issues.
- Collaborate with the external Business Central Support Team to enhance system efficiency and develop meaningful business reports.
- Oversee the posting of supplier invoices and perform bank and supplier statement reconciliations.
- Supervise and mentor the Finance Assistant, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and in line with company policies and procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement across accounting processes and workflows.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven experience in a senior accounting role in a complex business environment
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA / ACA / CPA or equivalent) or in final stages of qualification
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
- Experience managing month-end close processes independently
- Experience with VAT submissions and tax reporting (primarily in Malta)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Business Central (accounting software) is a must
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the accounting function
- Ability to work effectively within a wider finance function and cross-functional teams
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Fluency in English - both written and spoken
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior team members is an advantage
