About the role

  • Design, evolve, and scale Vultr’s global OOBM network architecture.
  • Develop resilient, secure, and scalable management network topologies across multiple regions.
  • Contribute to long-term roadmap planning for management WAN interconnect and security segmentation.
  • Ensure high availability, redundancy, and fault tolerance across all OOBM layers.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex OOBM incidents.
  • Maintain routing stability and service reliability across sites.
  • Implement and tune Layer 2 controls including Storm Control and other stability mechanisms.
  • Configure and maintain Layer 2 and Layer 3 ACLs.
  • Configure and maintain basic firewall policies.
  • Develop and maintain network automation workflows using Ansible or similar frameworks.
  • Produce clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Create runbooks and architectural diagrams.
  • Train and mentor engineering and operations teams.
  • Support and negotiate DIA where required.
  • Contribute to vendor evaluation and technical negotiations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience designing and operating network infrastructures.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with routers and switches in production environments.
  • Deep understanding of management network architectures and multi-layer designs.
  • Proven experience operating global or multi-site network infrastructures.
  • Strong knowledge of: BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, IPSec, VRRP, DHCP, VLAN, RSTP, Storm Control
  • Experience configuring: Basic firewall policies, layer 2 security (ARP Inspection, Neighbor Discovery Inspection), layer 2 and layer 3 ACLs
  • Strong Linux administration skills.
  • Experience with network automation (Ansible or similar).
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills in performance-sensitive and low-latency environments.
  • Strong documentation and technical communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor and train engineers.
  • Excellent collaboration skills across technical and business teams.
  • Negotiation skills with a proven record of managing transit and peering relationships.
