Conduct in-depth market research on Federal agencies and programs to identify new contract opportunities
Analyze customer needs, acquisition strategies, and buying patterns to support business development targeting
Track and forecast Government acquisition and spending trends, providing actionable insights to capture and proposal teams
Collect and analyze data on competitors, including strengths, weaknesses, pricing strategies, and differentiators; prepare competitive intelligence reports
Conduct partner research to identify qualified teaming partners and assess alignment with VSolvit capabilities
Monitor industry publications, agency forecasts, and acquisition portals (e.g., SAM.gov, FPDS, USASpending.gov)
Use GovCon research platforms (e.g., GovWin IQ, Federal Compass, Bloomberg Government) to build and maintain saved searches, alerts, and watchlists
Prepare market research reports, SWOT analyses, and opportunity briefings for leadership review
Support capture and proposal teams with data gathering, partner coordination, and customer outreach strategies
Assist with preparation for industry days, conferences, and civilian-focused trade shows
Maintain CRM opportunity pipelines with accurate, timely updates
Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Political Science, Economics, or related field
3+ years of experience in market research, business development, or competitive analysis in Federal contracting
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Candidates for this position must be eligible to attain a security clearance
Demonstrated customer service-oriented attitude in support of project managers
Demonstrated experience with research and analysis of civilian agency opportunities
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace
Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research, interpreting industry data, and preparing reports
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently in a remote work environment and support multiple simultaneous assignments
If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required
Preferred: 5+ years of experience supporting market research or competitive analysis in the Federal civilian space
Preferred: Demonstrated knowledge of specific civilian agencies (e.g., HHS, DHS, VA, USDA, DOE, Treasury)
Preferred: Experience conducting opportunity assessments and mapping to company capabilities
Preferred: Familiarity with capture/proposal processes in the Federal contracting lifecycle
Preferred: Experience with CRM systems and pipeline management (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot)
Preferred: Proposal development or capture support experience in Federal contracting
Preferred: Demonstrated professional writing skills using proven research and analysis methods
