About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and review concepts and designs for lunar landers, rovers, surface power systems, and spacecraft
  • Support technical content creation for mission opportunities and internal development programs
  • Develop and perform trade studies for technical, business, and programmatic decision-making
  • Perform thermal design and analysis for mission concepts and right-size thermal architectures
  • Identify and develop next-generation thermal management systems for lunar spacecraft
  • Identify and resolve system-level impacts driven by thermal design requirements
  • Contribute to schedules, resourcing, and budget estimates
  • Communicate with engineering disciplines, partners, customers, and vendors to resolve technical risks and challenges
  • Participate occasionally in customer and partner visits and technical interchange meetings
  • Translate customer requirements into product goals and system architectures for customers, proposals, and stakeholders
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to align engineering solutions with mission, business, and technology-roadmap needs
  • Support the system-level technical vision for new products across hardware and software domains

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar related discipline, plus 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience in space system development, systems engineering, structural/thermal design and analysis, mechanical and fluid systems, and/or manufacturing
  • Experience developing technical content for proposals and external customer presentations
  • Experience authoring and decomposing mission and system-level requirements
  • Strong understanding of launch, space, and lunar environments
  • Relevant advanced degree may be considered in lieu of equivalent experience
  • Eligibility to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance is desired
  • Must be a U.S. Person: a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)
  • Must be eligible to obtain required export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or Department of Commerce
