About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop and maintain highly concurrent and distributed backend services;
Contribute to architectural discussions and help shape technical decisions within the team;
Design, develop and test new features with a strong focus on quality and reliability;
Profile and optimise system performance, diagnosing and resolving issues proactively;
Support the release and documentation of developed features;
Estimate effort required to develop and implement solutions;
Contribute to coding standards and development processes;
Provide out-of-hours support as part of an on-call rota.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Solid programming skills in Go (Golang) or strong experience with JVM technologies (Java/Spring Boot) and a genuine desire to learn Go;
Experience developing and maintaining enterprise-grade systems at scale;
Experience with highly concurrent, distributed architectures and systems;
Experience with containerised applications;
Experience building REST/HTTP based services;
Experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Redis);
Some experience contributing to architectural decisions within a team;
Strong test suite design skills, including Unit, Integration and Smoke tests;
Clear and effective communication of problems and solutions across team members.
