About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Evaluate vehicles and components focusing on squeak and rattle, solid feel, door closing sound, and component noises
  • Conduct testing on complete vehicles at test tracks and on component rigs
  • Travel to Volvo Cars production sites around the world for factory-environment evaluations during development, industrialisation, or launch support
  • Perform root cause analysis
  • Collaborate with designers, CAE engineers, release teams, and suppliers to identify improvements and drive robust solutions
  • Capture learnings in design guidelines, requirements, and test methods with CAE, design, and release organisations
  • Use acoustic measurement equipment and commercial NVH software for analysis, troubleshooting, evaluation, and validation
  • Provide clear feedback and recommendations to design teams
  • Support development of vehicles from concept phase through mass production

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Relevant engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Technical Acoustics, Structural Dynamics, or similar, combined with substantial relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of structural dynamics, acoustics, and signal processing
  • Extensive hands-on experience in squeak and rattle and/or NVH testing
  • Experience using commercial measurement systems and NVH test tools for evaluation and troubleshooting
  • Understanding of combining physical test and CAE methods
  • Driving licence
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken
  • Analytical capability
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build networks
  • Customer focused and result oriented
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Interest in cars and technology
  • Experience with assembly or disassembly of complex systems, such as vehicles, is advantageous
  • Experience from vehicle development, launch activities, or production support is advantageous
  • Experience from proving ground, rig, shaker, or other component and vehicle test environments is advantageous
  • Experience in supplier collaboration, issue resolution, or cross-functional engineering work is advantageous
  • Experience in requirement setting, method development, or creation of design guidelines is advantageous
