About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Payroll processing including bi-weekly payroll calculation and submittal
- Deduction reconciliations and benefit allocation
- Manage garnishments and accruals (vacation and sick)
- Handle payroll taxes for Federal and State (CA and NV)
- Issue manual payroll checks
- Ensure funding payroll requirements and positive pay
- Communicate with supervisors and staff regarding payroll items
- Process housing allowances, mileage, travel, and other reimbursements
- Prepare and submit Workers Compensation report monthly
- Collaborate with Staff Accountants on payroll reclassifications
- Perform reconciliations of benefit liabilities and payments
- Send payroll reports to Program Directors
- Scan and document retention/scanning to server
Requirements
What you’ll need- A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
- Five years of combined education and accounting/ payroll experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree requirement
- Knowledge and recent experience with computerized accounting systems
- Knowledge and recent experience with Excel spreadsheets
- Knowledge and recent experience with double-entry accounting
- Knowledge and recent experience with ADP/Workforce Now HRIS
- Willingness to accept responsibility and do repetitive and routine work
- Sound judgment, discretion, and tact to handle confidential information
- Flexibility to work occasional overtime and be a team member
- A valid driver’s license and ability to meet insurance carrier’s guidelines
