About the role
- Design electronic schematics and take them through PCB implementation and prototyping.
- Ensure electronic designs are manufacturable, robust, and suitable for production.
- Work hands-on with physical prototypes, performing bring-up, validation, and debugging.
- Collaborate closely with Industrial Design and Mechanical Design to ensure proper physical integration of electronics into the product.
- Select components and define electronic solutions aligned with product requirements and constraints.
- Support the transition from prototype to production, working with manufacturers and suppliers throughout the product lifecycle.
- Contribute basic firmware or low-level programming tasks related to electronics bring-up and validation (not PC-level software).
- Debug hardware issues using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and power supplies.
- Produce clear and practical technical documentation for electronics and prototypes.
- Regularly work on-site with the Device and Mobile teams in Barcelona (1–2 days per week), using our electronics and prototyping workspace.
- Participate in iterative prototyping, testing, and validation of physical devices.
Requirements
- Based in Barcelona or willing to relocate, with availability to work on-site 1–2 days per week for hands-on hardware development.
- Solid experience (typically 4–6+ years) in electronic hardware development for physical products.
- Strong ability to work with electronic schematics and take designs through PCB prototyping and validation.
- Ability to read and understand electronic schematics.
- Practical experience working with physical hardware, prototypes, and laboratory equipment.
- Technical ownership of the electronic design and hardware integration of the product.
- Understanding of basic firmware or embedded programming at electronics level (C/C++), sufficient to support hardware bring-up and validation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with mechanical and industrial designers, sharing a common technical language.
- Experience working autonomously in small teams or product-focused environments.
