About the role

  • You’ll own our technical stack end-to-end, from core services to user-facing dashboards, working hand-in-hand with the founders, design, and growth.
  • Designing healthcare-grade systems that are fast, reliable, and secure.
  • Scaling Vocca's platform to millions of calls across thousands of medical practices.
  • Building the foundation for how engineering is done at Vocca, from architecture to tooling to culture.
  • Set the bar for quality, velocity, and impact.
  • Get onboarded into our stack, ship your first improvements in product or infrastructure within 1 week.
  • Take ownership of a feature from spec to production within 1 month.
  • Propose a technical vision for how our platform should evolve.
  • Deliver improvements to developer tooling and observability within 3 months.
  • Lead the design and rollout of a modular architecture that supports multiple clients within 6-12 months.
  • Put a new AI-powered voice agent into production for a clinic and ensure reliability at scale.
  • Establish Vocca's engineering culture: code reviews, documentation, and technical decision-making principles.
  • Start shaping the future engineering team (mentorship, recruitment).

Requirements

  • You’re a T-shaped engineer: strong in backend (APIs, infra, data) with solid frontend fundamentals OR a great UI eye, frontend expertise and interest in backend
  • You love full ownership: from architecture to deployment to monitoring.
  • You hold your work to exceptionally high standards and care about reliability, not just speed.
  • You think simplicity is what makes software scale: you ship fast, but always with maintainability in mind.
  • You’re curious about AI, voice, and healthcare, and want to apply your skills to a meaningful problem.
  • It’s a plus if you have experience in early-stage startups or B2B SaaS.
  • Know cloud platforms, databases, and DevOps practices.
  • Have strong opinions on architecture and scalability, but can also execute quickly.
  • Have worked on real-time systems, agents, or healthcare products.
