About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Represents Vistra Corp with the NRC and other regulatory agencies on matters for assigned area of responsibilities pertaining to Vistra Nuclear Fleet including the licensing bases, license amendments, relief requests, burden reduction and improvements, and station positions on regulatory positions while enhancing Vistra's regulatory reputation.
  • Maintains assigned licensing basis documents for the Vistra Nuclear Fleet, as required by federal regulations, through the control of licensing basis documents and regulatory correspondence.
  • Serving as the fleet liaison with plant and NRC staffs for licensing issues.
  • Assures that information communicated to regulatory agencies is timely and technically accurate.
  • Reviewing regulations and licensing basis documents to formulate regulatory positions in support of safe plant operation and licensing actions.
  • Developing and implementing standardized business practices, policies and procedures with regards to Beaver Valley, Comanche Peak, Davis-Besse and Perry plant operating and decommissioning fleet licensing activities.
  • Participating in regional and national peer groups to influence regulation and policy associated with nuclear licensing and decommissioning issues.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering, engineering tech or related science and 5 years related work experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree (non-engineering) and 9 yrs related experience
  • Associate Degree in Engineering, Engineering technology or related field and 11 yrs related work experience
  • Related nuclear work experience in the electric utility industry preferred
  • Experience in communicating with NRC technical staff preferred
  • Knowledge of nuclear regulations, regulatory review processes and inspection processes; nuclear codes and standards; nuclear plant operations; nuclear policies and procedures; and nuclear safety analyses preferred
  • Must possess excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or certification, or plant certification class desired
