  • Your metric is not activity but risk-adjusted contribution margin per MWh.
  • Your focus areas include:
  • Steering market & trading performance – You are accountable for ensuring intraday, balancing and multi-use strategies consistently outperform market benchmarks.
  • Optimizing portfolio management & procurement – You develop a forward-looking procurement, pricing and hedging strategy that guarantees supply security.
  • Ensuring risk management & result stability – You establish clear risk, hedging and limit structures, make exposures transparent and ensure market, price and volume risks remain controlled.
  • Orchestrating intraday & short-term trading – You ensure precise forecasts, clean scheduling, intelligent bidding and active arbitrage management.
  • Scaling multi-use & asset optimization – You make sure batteries, renewables and controllable loads are always deployed in the economically best market.
  • Driving simulation & continuous optimization – You establish backtests, scenario analyses and performance reviews as integral parts of decision-making.
  • Ensuring automation & operational excellence – You reduce manual interventions, implement robust 24/7 processes and ensure trading and operations run stably, scalably and audit-ready.
  • Mastering regulation & compliance – You ensure compliant market communications and legally secure contract models.

Requirements

  • Deep market understanding: Extensive experience in operational energy trading (spot, intraday, balancing/reserve energy PRL/SRL/MRL) with a focus on arbitrage, multi-use optimization and scalable commercialization models.
  • Portfolio management & procurement: Proven experience developing and managing procurement, pricing and hedging strategies with clear responsibility for results and risk.
  • Risk management & market rules: Confident handling of market, price and volume risks, limit and exposure systems, as well as energy market rules, balance group logic and regulatory requirements.
  • Intraday & short-term trading: Understanding of forecasting, scheduling, bidding and arbitrage in day-ahead and intraday trading, including management of balancing energy.
  • Multi-use & asset optimization: Experience economically managing battery storage, renewables and controllable loads across multiple markets—data-driven and results-oriented.
  • Simulation & decision support: Experience using backtests, scenario analyses and performance reviews to derive robust trading and optimization decisions.
  • Technology & data literacy (stakeholder level): Ability to define requirements for automation, AI models and data architectures from a business perspective and translate them with tech teams into high-performance solutions.
  • Degree in economics, engineering, natural sciences or computer science – alternatively a comparable qualification with demonstrable responsibility in energy trading or an energy-driven platform business.
