About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and govern real-time and event-driven data architectures using Apache Kafka and Azure streaming services
Define and maintain end-to-end data architecture patterns across real-time, near-real-time, and batch processing
Develop and maintain reference architectures, data flow diagrams, and technical standards
Partner with Data Engineering, Platform, and Enterprise Architecture teams to deliver scalable, secure, well-governed, and compliant solutions
Lead proofs of concept and technology evaluations
Provide architectural recommendations and trade-off analyses

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or at least 7 years with an Advanced degree, or 4 years with a PhD, or 13+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred: 12+ years with a Bachelor’s Degree, 8–10 years with an Advanced Degree, or 6+ years with a PhD
8+ years’ experience as a Data Architect or Senior Data Engineer in complex enterprise environments
Deep expertise in streaming architectures, including Kafka-compatible Azure Event Hubs or Confluent on Azure
Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 / Azure Blob Storage, Azure Event Hubs, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Functions, and Azure Kubernetes Service or Azure Container Apps
Experience designing and delivering streaming and batch data solutions at enterprise scale
Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills
Nice to have: Databricks, AWS, and Apache Airflow or equivalent tools
Prior banking or financial-services experience, particularly in regulated architecture environments
Travel 5–10% of the time
