About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, and maintain procedural content generation tools and systems within Unreal Engine to enable scalable and dynamic game environments.
  • Collaborate with art and design teams to incorporate PCG workflows that facilitate rapid content iteration and optimization.
  • Create and optimize shaders, materials, and procedural assets, ensuring high performance and quality standards.
  • Profile engine performance related to procedural content and implement improvements.
  • Prototype new procedural techniques and workflows to push the boundaries of game art technology.
  • Provide technical guidance and documentation on PCG pipelines for the development team.
  • Maintain and enforce technical standards and guidelines for procedural content creation.
  • Review and optimize existing art pipelines to incorporate procedural generation techniques effectively.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the game development or other CG industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Technical Artist.
  • Strong expertise with Unreal Engine, with a focus on Procedural Content Generation (PCG) tools and pipelines.
  • Proficiency in shader development and material creation within Unreal Engine.
  • Experience with Houdini, especially its integration with Unreal Engine for procedural asset creation.
  • Solid understanding of procedural systems, scripting, and automation within game development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Extensive experience with Unreal Engine Blueprints for procedural content pipelines.
  • Proficient in Python scripting and its use in procedural asset workflows.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine's PCG framework and procedural mesh generation.
  • Experience with engine profiling, memory, and performance optimization related to procedural content.
  • Ability to create clean, maintainable, and user-friendly tools for automation.
  • Experience with version control systems.
  • Knowledge of Substance Designer/Painter and texture generation/compression techniques (nice to have).
  • Knowledge and experience working in DCC tools such as Blender, Maya, or 3DS Max (nice to have).
  • Background in creating reusable procedural assets and systems for large-scale game production (nice to have).
  • Solid understanding of art fundamentals and asset creation pipelines (nice to have).
  • The ability to read and understand C++ code (nice to have).
