About the role
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality training content for Virtru’s Data Security Platform, including courses, hands-on labs, technical guides, and certification materials.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible learning materials for audiences of varying technical depth.
- Build structured learning paths aligned to personas (Admins, Integrators, Architects, Developers, Partners, Internal Engineering/CS/PS teams).
- Create modular, reusable content across multiple modalities: self-paced eLearning, instructor-led courses, virtual live sessions, microlearning, and scenario-based exercises.
- Develop assessments, hands-on challenges, and troubleshooting scenarios to reinforce learning and validate proficiency.
- Maintain a deep working knowledge of Virtru’s Data Security Platform, including policy engine behavior, TDF usage, data classification standards, and deployment best practices.
- Work closely with CTO, Engineering, Product, and other SMEs to ensure all content reflects current capabilities, upcoming releases, and best-practice guidance.
- Stay current on Data Security Platform (DSP) configuration and administration topics such as container-based deployments, installations and upgrade workflows, policy authoring, access evaluation logic, and operational troubleshooting.
- Develop a strong understanding of DSP SDKs, integration workflows, developer/integrator design patterns, and common use cases supported by the SDKs to create training content that supports programmatic and embedded implementations.
- Incorporate real customer and partner use cases into training — particularly around data governance, compliance frameworks, and secure data workflows.
- Partner with internal teams (Forward Deployed Engineering, Product, Customer Success, Support, and Sales Engineering) to identify training gaps and produce content that elevates both technical skills and field readiness.
- Support cross-functional initiatives that require training expertise, such as new feature rollouts, internal onboarding, partner certification programs, and public-sector enablement.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing by creating internal documentation, instructor guides, and technical enablement resources.
- Contribute to Train-the-Trainer programs to scale delivery across Virtru and partner organizations.
- Periodically deliver live or virtual technical training sessions as needed to validate content, model delivery, or support strategic customers or partners.
- Gather learner feedback, analyze performance metrics, and iterate content to improve clarity, accuracy, and impact.
- Contribute to standardized outbriefs, debriefs, and continuous improvement cycles for each training session.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing and developing technical training (curriculum, labs, documentation, instructor materials) for engineers, administrators, or highly technical audiences.
- Ability to create hands-on labs and scenario-based exercises (command-line, configuration, troubleshooting).
- Exceptional communication and simplification skills — the ability to break down complicated systems into approachable learning experiences for diverse personas.
- Strong technical depth in cloud, security, data governance, or platform engineering — with the ability to translate complex concepts like policy engines, TDF, and DSP deployment into clear, digestible training content.
- Background in software design principles and understanding of common design patterns — with the ability to conceptually reason about SDK usage, integration flows, and technical system behavior.
- 5–7+ years in technical curriculum development, technical training delivery, or deeply technical enablement roles.
- Familiarity with data governance, access control models, policy-as-code, or DLP/classification frameworks.
- Exposure to DevOps tooling, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure ARM), containers (Docker/Kubernetes), or modern deployment workflows.
- Familiarity with programming or experience reading code snippets (e.g., Go, Java, JavaScript, Python, PowerShell, Bash) to support SDK-related training content.
- Experience collaborating with engineering, product, and support teams.
- Strong writing, editing, and instructional design skills.
- Self-starter mindset — comfortable operating in ambiguity and building structure from the ground up.
