About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide evidence-based nutrition and behavior change coaching to help members improve metabolic health
- Deliver personalized coaching through chat and telephone interactions
- Help members interpret nutrition, metabolic-marker, and other health data
- Support member engagement, retention, long-term success, and sustainable behavior change
- Use motivational interviewing and member-centered goal setting
- Follow clinical workflows and accurately document member interactions, outreach, and progress
- Collaborate with Virta Providers and other care-team members to deliver tailored, safe care
- Complete onboarding training and begin managing Virta members, including onboarding calls and day-to-day care
- Learn the platforms, tools, and KPIs used to perform and measure the role
- Contribute feedback to team culture, learning, and process improvements
- Connect with colleagues and help live out Virta’s values
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2 years of experience working directly with patients to create plans and set goals, including chronic-condition or metabolic-health coaching, nutrition counseling, motivational interviewing, community health, weight loss or bariatric centers, health counseling, or mental health counseling
- Health coaching experience or recent completion of a coaching program, ideally NBHWC or ICF
- Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or advanced degree in a health, behavioral health, or related field
- Ability to safely, responsibly, and effectively use digital platforms and AI-enabled tools for remote care
- Proficiency with texting, phone calls, video chats, instant messaging, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and strong typing skills
- High EQ and empathy when working with different personalities through change
- Strong motivation, organizational skills, and attention to detail
- Passion for working directly with members in metabolic health as a frontline care provider
- Critical-thinking, clinical-judgment, and problem-solving ability
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and empathetically across different modes and audiences
- Collaboration, teamwork, knowledge sharing, and willingness to support teammates
- Ability to create plans, set goals, hold individuals accountable, connect actions to progress, and adjust approaches
- Comfort working in changing conditions or with incomplete information
- Spanish verbal and/or written fluency required by the application question
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Professional experience with type 2 diabetes, obesity, or other metabolic conditions is nice to have
- Experience with asynchronous and telephonic coaching is nice to have
- Experience with ketogenic or low-carb nutrition is nice to have
- NBC-HWC or ICF certification is nice to have
- Must follow Virta security and privacy procedures for HIPAA-governed patient information
