About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain complete general ledger for all financial transactions of the organization;
- Balance books for the preparation of reports to show income, expenses and other items relating to bookkeeping of the organization;
- Track organization’s accounts payable and accounts receivable;
- Enter and maintain cash receipts, disbursement journal and general ledger;
- Prepare bank reconciliation for all bank accounts;
- Assist the Fiscal Director in preparation of the annual financial audits;
- Assist the Fiscal Director in preparing the annual budget for the organization;
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Comptroller, Fiscal Director or Executive Director.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelors’ degree in accounting/finance or comparable experience in accounting and budgeting.
- Bilingual a plus (English/Spanish).
- Working knowledge of fund accounting software (e.g. Fund EZ), Bill.com and a high degree of spreadsheet application proficiency are strongly preferred.
- Strong verbal, written, communication and documenting skills.
- Must be well organized, assertive, work independently and collectively, while maintaining a flexible work schedule.
- Must have a strong commitment to working in diverse setting and to supporting delivery of culturally sensitive services.
- Strong collaborative skills and approach to leadership that promotes staff growth and creativity.
- Ability to operate office equipment such as computers, copy & fax machine, phone system, etc., with strong internet and software skills; incl. Microsoft Office and donor database.
- Ability to lift at least (30 lbs.) and travel via public transportation (bus, train, etc.).
- Must ensure agency, program and client confidentiality at all times.
