About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct service and routine, episodic nursing aide care to adults with complex medical needs and psychiatric conditions
- Work in a small Group Living Environment to support medical and psychiatric needs
- Administer, document, store, and dispose of medication under Medication Administration Program (MAP) guidelines
- Implement Persons Served treatment plans under the direction of the IM GLE Nurse
- Take and document temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, skin care, toileting, and passive range-of-motion exercises
- Assist or accompany Persons Served to medical, dialysis, and psychiatric appointments
- Report changes in medical condition or mental status to the Nurse and/or Clinical Program Director
- Assist with activities of daily living, including meal preparation, household chores, physical site maintenance, and cooking
- Promote community engagement, housing permanency, self-sufficiency, healthcare access, and employment services
- Help orient new residents and CNA staff
- Use recovery-oriented, person-centered, harm-reduction, trauma-informed, culturally competent, strengths-based, Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, WRAP, and Cognitive Behavioral techniques
- Encourage resident social interaction and create a collaborative environment
- Advocate for Persons Served and serve as a resource for neighbors
- Participate in trainings, supervision, staff meetings, quality improvement, and crisis intervention
- Complete required documentation and incident reports
- Follow safety, Human Rights, maintenance, licensing, and operational policies
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current Certified Nurse Assistant valid in Massachusetts required
- High school diploma or GED required
- One to two years of job-specific experience in human services preferred
- Experience working with people with psychiatric conditions and/or co-occurring disorders strongly preferred
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Current, valid US driver's license for at least 6 months/one year as stated in the posting
- Willingness to use a fully insured personal vehicle during the job, or use a Vinfen van
- Must become CPR and First Aid certified within two weeks of employment
- Must become MAP certified within 150 days of employment
- Must successfully pass CORI, reference, multi-state background, and driving record checks
- Knowledge of Nursing Assistant principles, modalities, best practices, and evidence-based practices
- Knowledge of personal computer applications and equipment
- Ability to balance competing priorities and make independent judgments and decisions
- Ability to work professionally and confidentially
- Ability to perform physically active duties, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, and lifting at least 25 pounds
- Ability to operate a computer, calculator, copier, and printer
- Ability to assist Persons Served with activities of daily living
- Ability to communicate with Persons Served, staff, and external representatives
- Adequate insurance and a safe driving record required when using a personal vehicle
