About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Promote the integration and functioning of Persons Served so they can live successfully in the community.
- Screen, assess, and reassess substance use, addiction risk, and addiction treatment needs using SSI-SA and other assessments.
- Develop formulations addressing substance use level and risk, current impact, and readiness for change.
- Provide direct substance misuse/addiction interventions and supports to Persons Served.
- Apply trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, person-centered, culturally competent, and strengths-based approaches.
- Provide evidence-based addiction treatment, including Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, Harm Reduction, Relapse Prevention, SBIRT, Seeking Safety, WRAP, and Cognitive Behavioral interventions.
- Develop Safety Plans and Crisis Prevention and Response Plans.
- Refer Persons Served and coordinate access to Medication Assisted Treatment, Dual Recovery groups, and psycho-educational services.
- Provide addiction treatment psycho-educational services individually and in groups.
- Participate as a member of intervention teams.
- Train, mentor, supervise, and model evidence-based practices for GLE SIE staff.
- Document Persons Served needs and services thoroughly.
- Promote engagement, safe housing, community tenure, self-sufficiency, and successful service completion.
- Promote access to healthcare, employment, and education services.
- Coordinate access to acute addictions treatment, self-help, peer support, psychoeducation, and relapse prevention services.
- Participate in the Addiction Recovery Counselor Community of Practice Workgroup.
- Receive regular role-based clinical supervision from the Assistant Team Leader.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
- Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor or Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADC 1, LADC II, CADC I, or CADC II) in Massachusetts required.
- Access to an operational and insured vehicle and willingness to use it to transport PS.
- Valid US driver's license presented at employment.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Valid US driver's license maintained for at least six months.
- Pass a driver's screening background check.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, lift at least 25 pounds, and assist PS with tasks of daily living.
- Ability to operate a computer and office equipment.
- Ability to communicate with PS, staff, and external representatives.
- CPR required within first two weeks of hire.
- First Aid required within two weeks of hire.
- MAP required within 150 days of hire.
- Extensive knowledge of Addiction Treatment principles, modalities, best practices, and evidence-based practices.
- Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, Harm Reduction, SSI-SA, SBIRT, Housing First, Addiction Peer Support Services, Seeking Safety, WRAP, Cognitive Behavioral interventions, acute Addiction Treatment practices, and Medication Assisted Treatment.
- Knowledge of engagement strategies, risk management, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed services, culturally competent care, emergency services, and community-based resources.
- Skills to formulate treatment plans and train staff in substance misuse/addiction interventions.
- Clinical experience with co-occurring disorders or addictions preferred.
- Bilingual/bicultural ability and lived experience of psychiatric conditions preferred.
