About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Implement clinical and individual programs, daily schedules, activities, and recommended plans for persons served
  • Provide instruction and skill building in self-help, sensorimotor, communication, social, independent living, behavior, affective, and wellness development
  • Assist with case management responsibilities and provide input for interdisciplinary team reviews
  • Assist in developing DHSPs and maintain contact with families, funding sources, and staff
  • Implement clinical and daily plans and recommend or implement program changes
  • Maintain daily documentation, data collection, and progress notes
  • Work individually and in groups to develop skills and keep members engaged in meaningful activities
  • Communicate with management regarding treatment and programs
  • Participate in case management and other interdisciplinary teams
  • Support members in crisis management using Positive Behavior Support and Safety Care
  • Assist with staff training as needed
  • Maintain program-area upkeep and monitor, clean, and store supplies and equipment
  • Advocate for persons served and support community integration through community, volunteer, reverse-integration, and friendship opportunities
  • Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • One year of relevant work experience/training
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge and use of advocacy techniques
  • Knowledge of applied behavioral analysis with the developmental disabilities population
  • Knowledge of different communication styles
  • Knowledge of empowerment and self-advocacy techniques
  • Knowledge of formal and informal assessment practices
  • Knowledge of participatory planning techniques
  • Knowledge of physical personal management skills
  • Knowledge of independent living management skills
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
  • Persuasive and collaborative skills
  • Presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to provide a positive role model
  • Driving required using a Vinfen van or personal vehicle
  • Personal vehicle users must maintain adequate insurance and a safe driving record
  • Valid US driver's license required at employment; at least 21 years old and licensed in the US for at least six months; must pass a driver's screening background check
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, lift at least 25 pounds, and assist clients with daily living tasks
  • Ability to operate a computer, calculator, copier, and printer
  • Ability to communicate with clients, staff, and external representatives
  • CPR within 2 weeks of hire
  • First Aid within 2 weeks of hire
  • New Employee Training (NET)
  • Safety Care within 90 days of hire
