About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Function as an advisor for Clubhouse members and develop and implement Action Plans
- Promote a supportive and empowering services environment
- Communicate and reinforce Clubhouse culture and philosophy
- Link members to community services and resources
- Support members across all Clubhouse work areas through teaching, coaching, facilitation, and skill development
- Plan, implement, and evaluate work area services as needed
- Maintain program records according to Massachusetts Department of Mental Health standards
- Attend trainings, conferences, staff meetings, supervision, and assist with orientation of new staff and members
- Maintain ongoing communication with supervisors and coworkers
- Help maintain the physical site and participate in Clubhouse events
- Provide coverage and assistance for onsite and offsite program activities and daily program requirements
- Provide specific expertise or leadership in one or more Clubhouse work areas
- For Education staff: assess education needs, develop curricula, conduct classes, supervise tutors, coordinate educational opportunities, and establish educational affiliations
- For Intake, Outreach, and Housing staff: manage the work area, coordinate intake and orientation, conduct assessments, monitor Action Plans, and serve as a resource on housing and community participation
- For Health, Wellness and Life Skills staff: coordinate nutritionally balanced meals, manage food inventory and budget, train members in culinary skills, and maintain sanitation standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- One to three years of experience in the human services field required
- Advanced training, experience, or professional credentials required for Clubhouse Counselor II positions
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, rehabilitation counseling, special education, or related field preferred
- Valid driver’s license required at employment
- At least 21 years of age
- Valid US driver’s license maintained for at least six months
- Adequate insurance and safe driving record when using a personal vehicle
- Ability to pass a driver screening background check
- CPR certification required within two weeks of hire
- First Aid certification required within two weeks of hire
- Crisis Intervention/Staff Safety and Infectious Diseases training required within six months of employment
- Health and Wellness positions require ServSafe training and exam within six months of hire
- Participatory, collaborative, teaching, and participatory planning skills
- Knowledge of Clubhouse standards and practices
- Knowledge of Psychiatric Rehabilitation principles, values, and practices
- Strong organizational and writing skills
- Knowledge of assessment practices and documentation standards
- Knowledge of learning and communication styles
- Knowledge of empowerment, self-advocacy, and peer support techniques
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of community resources, jobs, and educational opportunities
- Ability to work professionally and confidentially
- Knowledge of personal computer applications and equipment
