About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct service in an Intensive GLE residential setting
- Help persons served overcome barriers and prepare for independent living
- Support the Program Director with administrative officer roles and staff orientation
- Implement treatment-plan interventions under Clinical Program Director guidance
- Administer, document, store, and dispose of medications according to MAP policies
- Provide crisis intervention and access on-call backup when needed
- Schedule and facilitate weekly resident group meetings, including menu input
- Complete primary grocery shopping and assist residents with meal preparation
- Accompany residents to medical and psychiatric appointments
- Promote healthcare and employment-service access
- Foster social interaction and a collaborative, welcoming residential environment
- Advocate for persons served and support evidence-based practices
- Complete required documentation, incident reports, and quality-improvement activities
- Maintain a safe, comfortable, clean residence and perform scheduled site maintenance
- Attend trainings, supervision, and staff meetings
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s degree in a human service discipline preferred
- One year of residential counselor or related experience preferred
- One to two years of job-specific human-services experience preferred
- Ability to establish supportive, trusting relationships with persons served, families, and neighbors
- Sensitivity to cultural, religious, ethnic, disability, and gender issues
- Ability to balance competing priorities and make independent judgments and decisions
- Ability to work professionally and confidentially
- Knowledge of personal computer applications and equipment
- Valid driver's license required at employment
- At least 21 years of age
- Valid US driver's license held for at least six months
- Adequate insurance and safe driving record if using a personal vehicle
- Ability to pass a driver's screening background check
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, sit, reach, and maneuver through narrow spaces
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or a two-person lift
- Ability to assist persons served with activities of daily living
- Ability to operate a computer, calculator, copier, and printer
- Ability to remain stationary for 50% of the time as needed
- Ability to speak, hear, and communicate with persons served, staff, and external representatives
- Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, plus ability to adjust focus
- CPR required within two weeks of hire
- First Aid required within two weeks of hire
- MAP required within 150 days of hire
- Bilingual/bicultural applicants and applicants with lived experience of psychiatric conditions are encouraged to apply
