About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Greet visitors, patients, and families and direct them appropriately
- Maintain efficient patient flow through registration and provide customer service
- Answer telephone calls, direct calls, take accurate messages, and deliver them appropriately
- Inform patients of physician schedule delays and assist with patient comfort
- Post self-pay charges, collect payments, provide receipts, and reconcile daily payments and billing slips
- Open and close batches, reconcile collections, prepare deposits, and document corrections
- Scan insurance cards, process online insurance verifications, and update patient accounts
- Update demographics, insurance information, HIPAA forms, and financial waivers
- Schedule appointments, use waitlists, confirm future appointments, and review eligibility and phone reports
- Schedule and enter orders for diagnostic tests and procedures
- Coordinate with Patient Care Resources and clinical staff on timely pre-authorizations
- Complete referrals and enter them into the appropriate system
- Communicate problems, concerns, or issues to the Office Supervisor/Manager
- Perform clerical duties including faxing, photocopying, scanning, filing, and mailings
- Cover for other staff and office locations as requested
- Follow downtime procedures and perform other required duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Graduate or GED required
- Associate Degree preferred
- Ability to communicate in English, orally and in writing
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner
- Knowledge of medical office and terminology preferred
- Basic proficiency in computer use required
- Previous PSR experience preferred
- Previous experience with standard office technology in a Windows-based environment preferred
- Experience with EHR, Practice Management System, and Departmental/Ancillary Systems preferred
- Ability to commute to satellite offices as needed
- Flexibility with various work schedules and covering other staff when asked
