About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a field-based, customer-facing, non-promotional medical and scientific expert in HIV treatment and prevention
- Advance clinical practice within the assigned Pacific Northwest territory to improve patient outcomes
- Engage scientifically with healthcare providers and medical experts
- Manage and develop the territory and execute activities aligned with the medical strategic plan
- Collect actionable field insights to inform medical strategy, product development, clinical trial design, and market strategies
- Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with external experts, researchers, and healthcare professionals
- Support scientific discussions, collaborations, emerging data discussions, clinical trial activities, patient journey analysis, market dynamics assessment, unmet medical need exploration, pipeline discussions, disease-state and product education, adverse-event capture, and medical-insight capture
- Develop and deliver scientific presentations and training sessions for healthcare professionals and internal teams
- Support creation of educational materials and provide scientific training to colleagues
- Ensure regulatory and company-policy compliance and maintain accurate interaction records
- Mentor and coach new or less experienced MSLs and lead scientific or strategic projects
- Disseminate important safety information to healthcare professionals
- Interface with external experts, healthcare professionals, investigators, professional societies, advocacy groups, formulary decision-makers, and internal stakeholders
- Assist with GSK and Investigator Sponsored Studies and work with Clinical Teams to improve site performance
- Attend national and regional scientific/medical meetings
- Collaborate across matrix stakeholders with a One-ViiV mindset
- Complete training and administrative responsibilities, including Veeva CRM, email, expense reports, and customer profiling
Requirements
What you’ll need- Advanced degree (MD, DO, PharmD, PhD, or APP)
- 3+ years of clinical experience in HIV or Infectious Disease
- Stakeholder management experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel 40–60%
- HIV field medical experience in the US preferred
- Proven track record of consistent, high performance within Field-Based Medical Affairs preferred
- Strong grounding in clinical, medical, and pharmaceutical science
- Ability to rapidly assimilate specific and detailed scientific knowledge
- Experience evaluating and effectively communicating evidence-based medicine
- Strong scientific communication and presentation skills
- Leadership skills and experience, including business acumen, stakeholder management, project participation, and completion
- Experience mentoring fellow MSLs and leading complex field-based medical initiatives preferred
- Experience representing field-based medical on internal cross-functional teams and contributing to strategic planning preferred
- Experience engaging effectively one-on-one and in group settings
- Digital fluency, enterprise thinking, external stakeholder management, high-impact communication, and patient impact skills
