About the role
- Lead the architecture and development of a high-traffic web portal supporting up to 500 submissions per hour and 100 concurrent users
- Design and document the technical architecture of a modern web-based portal platform
- Oversee end-to-end software selection, configuration, and API integration
- Ensure platform scalability, performance, and availability under high-volume usage
- Lead the development team, providing technical oversight across front-end, back-end, and DevOps efforts
- Collaborate with cybersecurity experts to ensure FISMA/FedRAMP-compliant controls and federal compatibility (IPv6, HTTPS, etc.)
- Guide UX/UI decisions to ensure accessibility (WCAG/Section 508 compliance) and usability
- Develop and enforce best practices for coding standards, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation
- Ensure data architecture aligns with project goals, scalability needs, and security requirements
- Provide leadership during the transition from the current portal system to the new architecture
Requirements
- Location: Remote (U.S.-based) - Preference will be given to Washington D. C. Area (Must be willing to Commute for any Nessessary Meetings)
- Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain Public Trust or applicable federal clearance
- Minimum 8 years of experience in software development or technical architecture roles
- Proven experience designing and deploying scalable, cloud-based platforms
- Strong understanding of frontend and backend development frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, Node.js, Python, .NET)
- Hands-on knowledge of database and data management (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
- Familiarity with federal IT standards, especially HTTPS, IPv6, and accessibility requirements
- Experience with DevOps tools and practices, including containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and infrastructure as code
- Drupal Experience A MUST
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design and integration
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional software development teams in Agile environments
- Preferred: Experience supporting federal government platforms or enterprise-level systems
- Preferred: Drupal development experience (i.e., knows Drupal architecture and how to create Drupal modules, ideally in Drupal 9)
- Preferred: Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Preferred: Certifications in cloud architecture, DevOps, or security (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, CISSP, PMP)
- Preferred: Master’s Degree
