About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, plan, implement, tune, and recover mission-critical systems
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and networking issues
Ensure high availability, performance, and security of mission-critical infrastructure
Analyse production system performance and stability and identify optimisation opportunities
Respond to support escalations and resolve escalated service issues
Develop security procedures to protect systems from unauthorised use
Develop and maintain backup and restoration procedures, programs, and documentation
Maintain system monitoring and alerting to maximise uptime and minimise end-user impact
Provide technical services and support for internal systems, cloud, and network infrastructure
Administer and maintain remote monitoring and management systems, including agent scripts, alerts, dashboards, audits, and reviews
Participate in post-incident reviews
Perform other related Site Reliability Engineer and/or DevOps Engineer responsibilities

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 3 years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps, System Administrator, or similar
Working knowledge of cloud environments and technologies such as AWS and Oracle
Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, proxies, LAN/WAN networks, and patch management tools
Proficiency with ELK stack log management and visualisation
Proficiency with Prometheus and Grafana monitoring
Proficiency with Git and GitLab CI/CD pipelines
Proficiency with Terraform configuration management
Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes containerisation and orchestration
Working knowledge of Linux and Windows server operating systems
Good knowledge of HTTP and TCP network protocol stacks
Knowledge of system security, intrusion detection systems, and data backup/recovery
Ability to create scripts and automate processes using Rundeck, Ansible, Bash, and Puppet
Working experience with Nginx, PHP-FPM, SSL, DNS, and Cloudflare is a plus
A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline is stated; professional certifications are a plus
Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Organised, patient, and professional demeanour with a can-do attitude
Availability outside working hours to promptly resolve emergency issues
