About the role

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of governance, integrity and regulatory functions.
  • Ensure the Department has an effective portfolio governance framework.
  • Oversee the delivery of secretariat support to the department’s Tier 1 and Tier 2 committees.
  • Responsible for leading the department’s transport regulatory operations function.
  • Oversee prosecutions and case reviews, regulatory performance, compliance and enforcement matters.

Requirements

  • Extensive leadership experience, including the management of staff, through complex and challenging environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the provision of authoritative advice to Ministers, the Secretary and Deputy Secretaries on some or all of governance, regulatory and integrity matters.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the development and management of workforce, budgets, finances, and expenditure.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively identify and assess emerging issues, consider options, and devise effective action plans and innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • A degree in a suitable discipline, such as law, regulation, public policy or related field.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa necessary for the nature of the position.
