About the role
- Statistical Modeling: Develop and maintain demand forecasting (S&D) and time series models for diesel, gasoline, and biofuels using advanced statistical methods.
- Elasticity Analysis: Conduct price-elasticity and market-share studies to support pricing strategies and regional targets.
- Trading Support: Develop quantitative tools to support hedging and arbitrage strategies, analyzing correlations between international windows and the domestic market.
- Dashboard Automation: Create and manage automated data visualization flows (Power BI/Tableau) that monitor inventories, import flows, and contribution margins.
- Data Engineering (Support): Build and optimize complex queries and small pipelines in Databricks/Python for consumption by the intelligence team.
- Exploratory Analysis: Perform ad-hoc studies on market players' behavior and regulatory impacts (ANP) using large datasets.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree completed: Statistics, Engineering, Economics, or Mathematics (preferably with a strong quantitative methods background).
- Programming: Proficiency in Python (Pandas, Scikit-learn, Statsmodels) and advanced SQL.
- BI: Experience with Power BI or Tableau (knowledge of DAX/M is a plus).
- Cloud: Familiarity with Azure environment (Databricks, Data Lake).
- English: Intermediate to Advanced level (able to read technical international commodities reports).
- Logical-Statistical Reasoning: Ability to distinguish correlation from causation in volatile markets.
- Technical Autonomy: Ability to propose new modeling approaches without constant supervision at each step.
- Data Communication (Data Storytelling): Ability to translate technical terms and model outputs into executive business language.
- Business Knowledge: Previous experience in commodities, the energy sector, or financial derivatives is desirable.
