About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Teaming closely with R&D teams to ensure supply chain support of rapid prototyping projects including providing guidance on component and supplier selection and facilitating rapid sourcing strategies and tactics
  • Develop and execute comprehensive sourcing strategies for various commodities and technologies, aligning with business objectives and product roadmaps.
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers globally, ensuring adherence to Viavi's quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to achieve favorable outcomes and long-term partnerships.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure seamless new product introductions (NPIs) and ongoing product support.
  • Mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical, economic, and logistical challenges.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and new technologies to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Develop and implement robust sourcing processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Prepare and present reports on sourcing performance, cost savings, and risk mitigation to senior management.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related field); Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in sourcing, supply chain, or procurement engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role
  • Proven track record of successful supplier management, negotiation, and cost reduction in a high-tech manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, plastics, PCB assembly, optics, electronics)
  • Experience with global supply chains and working with international suppliers
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and supply chain management tools
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
  • Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CSCP, CPIM) is a plus.
