About the role
- Lead global cost accounting, inventory accounting, and manufacturing accounting activities across multiple teams/sites, ensuring consistent technical accounting application and execution
- Own month-end close execution and balance sheet governance, including accruals, reserves, and reconciliations (subledger to GL)
- Prepare, review, and approve journal entries, accounting conclusions, and supporting documentation prepared by team members
- Drive inventory valuation and cutoff accuracy, including in-transit inventory review and period-end accrual governance
- Lead over/under absorption analysis and required reclassification activity
- Own and oversee manufacturing variance accounting and analysis, including standard cost adjustments, PPV, expedites/premium freight, and freight/logistics-related variances
- Own inventory reserve rollforwards and GL tie-outs, including E&O rollforward and reconciliation to GL
- Review and approve cycle count variance investigations and inventory adjustment accounting treatment
- Oversee ARM reconciliations, ensure timely completion, and drive issue resolution across the team
- Own SOX/internal control execution for the area, including evidence standards, review/approval workflows, and remediation of control gaps
- Coordinate and manage audits with external audit firms and Viavi Internal Audit, including walkthroughs, request tracking, and timely delivery of support and control evidence
- Lead budgeting execution for assigned areas, partnering with stakeholders to build the plan, manage timelines, and drive accountability
- Provide leadership and prioritization for ad hoc operational finance and technical accounting needs
- Drive continuous improvement through SOP creation, policy/procedure updates, and standardization of close and control processes
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7–12+ years of progressive experience in technical accounting, cost accounting, inventory accounting, or operations finance
- Experience leading teams and reviewing/approving work products (reconciliations, JEs, close support, controls)
- Strong understanding of accruals, reconciliations, reserves, cutoff, inventory valuation, and manufacturing cost flows
- Proven experience supporting SOX/internal controls and audit requirements
- CPA and/or CMA strongly preferred
