About the role

  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems with Microsoft (MS) business and ColdFusion web applications
  • Monitor and complete routine daily application support tasks
  • Evaluate, refine, and upgrade current business applications
  • Develop, test, and maintain both desktop and web-based applications
  • Develop, test, and maintain .NET and C# applications with in-depth knowledge of Model View Controller (MVC)
  • Develop, test, and maintain ColdFusion-based applications and SQL Server Reporting services-based reports
  • Provide performance reports, data analytics, and problem analysis
  • Prepare work and budgetary estimates for business and technology projects
  • Plan and communicate specific work tasks for ongoing maintenance
  • Act as Project Manager (PM) for various business application projects as needed
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of existing and emerging MS Office applications, .NET Visual Studio applications, and ColdFusion web applications
  • Cultivate and sustain business relations with clients, external service providers, and other support staff
  • Provide oversight of outsourced vendor services
  • Act as a technical liaison for project teams and management
  • Administer disaster recovery and technical asset review documentation
  • Fulfill internal/external audit requests and test change control processes
  • Maintain knowledge of existing and emerging technology related to Versant Power and other electric utilities
  • Participate in scheduled and unscheduled IT on-call as necessary
  • Perform designated duties related to outage restoration activities

Requirements

  • Must have a degree in Computer Science or related field and/or 6-years’ experience in a client-focused IT support role
  • Expertise and experience working with MS Office applications suite, including Access, Excel, Project, and Word
  • Knowledge and experience with SQL, SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), XML, C#, .Net. (Microsoft Visual Studio), and ColdFusion
  • Reporting expertise with one or more (SQL Server reporting services and/or Crystal Reports)
  • Experience with system integrations and interfaces
  • Expertise with Oracle or MS SQL
  • Must have knowledge of testing methodologies
  • Must have a strong customer service ethic and ability to work independently or within teams with minimal supervision
  • Experience with project management methodologies, i.e. ITIL, PMI, PMBOK, etc.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Although not required, experience with utility application systems, billing and fleet systems, and/or electrical infrastructure
  • Must be willing to travel for training and user group participation
  • Must be willing to work overtime as necessary to achieve deadlines
  • Valid Maine driver's license required
