About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the run layer of Verizon’s autonomous network across a national, multi-vendor 5G footprint
- Lead the engineering organization and automation platform operating at national scale
- Advance Verizon from human-led operations toward TM Forum Level 4 autonomy across Plan, Build, and Run
- Turn reliability and customer-experience targets into closed-loop operations that detect, diagnose, and resolve issues before customers feel them
- Act on RAN and cross-domain intent through automated, policy-governed changes on the live network
- Own zero-touch lifecycle, upgrades, scaling, and healing for virtualized RAN (L2/L3) and 5G Core network functions
- Lead AI/ML-driven optimization of compute and energy, including dynamic power management, workload placement, and capacity
- Run and scale orchestration, closed-loop assurance, and the on-premises AI inference platform
- Define the agentic operating model, policy-as-code guardrails, and safe-autonomy standards across domains and vendors
- Grow and lead a distributed engineering organization spanning cloud-native and SRE, MLOps, and network automation, with multiple director-level leaders
- Drive the autonomy roadmap toward Level 4 using zero-touch success rate, mean-time-to-resolve, automation coverage, and energy savings metrics
- Engage industry and standards bodies including TM Forum, O-RAN, and 3GPP, as well as technology and hyperscaler partners
- Ensure security, resilience, and regulatory compliance of automated actions on the production network
