About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner with Business and IT leaders to ensure processes and controls mitigate financial, operational, and regulatory risks
  • Lead transformation from reactive problem-solving to proactive risk mitigation
  • Assess major system integrations, technology migrations, and business process changes
  • Design scalable control environments before risks materialize
  • Manage and dynamically deploy a fluid team of risk professionals
  • Drive proactive risk identification and mitigation using automation, data analytics, and improved methodologies
  • Allocate team capacity across Process Assurance initiatives and enterprise-wide priorities
  • Act as delegate for the Sr. Director and AVP
  • Synthesize complex risk narratives and prepare executive-level collateral
  • Present strategic recommendations to SVP+ leadership
  • Collaborate with technology, security, and business teams on regulatory risks and process design impacts
  • Direct assessment of IT risks within business processes, including interfaces and automated controls
  • Test System Development Life Cycle controls for new implementations
  • Oversee comprehensive process flow diagrams
  • Coach professional staff and maintain team morale and engagement
  • Coordinate with external auditors on key risk areas and control sufficiency

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work and/or military experience or specialized training
  • Deep institutional knowledge of Verizon’s operational landscape, organizational structure, and internal ERM methodologies
  • Proven experience managing teams, mentoring staff, and dynamically allocating resources in a fluid, fast-paced environment
  • Extensive experience designing and testing internal controls, including Business Process controls and ITGCs
  • Experience assessing the impact of system migrations
  • Exceptional executive communication skills and experience preparing and delivering presentations to senior leadership
  • Strategic thinking and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to rally teams through transformation and high workload
  • Ability to prioritize critical enterprise risks
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field preferred
  • Professional certification such as CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE, or PMP preferred
  • Experience with automation or technical solutions, including Google Workspace ecosystem and Apps Script, preferred
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Looker or Tableau preferred
  • Strong understanding of AI and emerging technologies’ impact on IT and business process controls preferred
  • Experience driving complex solutions for ongoing automated monitoring of key risks preferred
