About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide daily oversight of Threat Management Center Incident Management
  • Act as an escalation point for security incidents
  • Coordinate cross-functional execution to mitigate threats across Verizon and third-party environments
  • Perform day-to-day operational activities as needed
  • Coordinate after-action remediation and escalations
  • Identify detection gaps, dependencies, and recommendations, and collaborate with cybersecurity stakeholders
  • Ensure incident lessons learned and root cause analyses are completed
  • Review compliance audits and establish sustainable, repeatable processes
  • Recommend ways to mature and advance preventive and defensive TMC capabilities
  • Leverage internal data, threat trends, and operational metrics to communicate use cases
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal and external audit reviews
  • Produce and present artifacts and executive summaries
  • Present executive-level readouts, metrics, and case reviews to senior executives, including the CISO
  • Develop and execute strategic goals and communicate updates to stakeholders
  • Set team goals and expectations, define metrics and trends, and implement changes to reduce time to detect, respond, and remediate security risks
  • Conduct performance reviews, check-ins, and disciplinary actions as needed
  • Attract, retain, lead, educate, develop, and manage employees
  • Develop talent for incident management, threat hunting, and red team roles
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, problem-solving, decision-making, and process improvement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Eight or more years of relevant experience, demonstrated through work and/or military experience or specialized training
  • Four or more years of people management experience
  • Four or more years of experience in Information Security, Technology, or Technical Risk Analysis
  • Four or more years of experience working with SIEM technologies such as Splunk
  • Ability to pass and/or obtain a security clearance
  • Experience managing a security operations center and/or Cyber Incident Response teams preferred
  • Knowledge of system, cloud, application, and network logs
  • Practical application of SIEM and SOAR tools
  • Understanding of MITRE ATT&CK and Lockheed Martin’s Cyber Kill Chain
  • Understanding of Windows, Unix/Linux, and MacOS operating systems
  • Knowledge of the cyber threat landscape, adversaries, campaigns, and motivations
  • Experience with analysis techniques, indicators of compromise, threat hunting, intrusions, and potential incidents
  • Certifications such as Network+, Security+, CISSP, CISM, GSLC, and/or CFE are advantageous
