About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide strategic leadership, executive oversight, and operational direction for end-to-end deployment of physical telecommunications infrastructure
  • Lead multi-regional teams of engineers, project managers, and field construction crews
  • Oversee design of complex outside plant structures, optical distribution networks, FTTCS, and underground/aerial fiber routes
  • Lead construction, updating, and maintenance of plant infrastructure to meet network build-out targets
  • Partner with wireless teams and external carriers on small cell, macro, and in-building wireless network transport
  • Define and execute the long-term strategic vision for regional outside plant infrastructure deployments
  • Build an environment that motivates, engages, and retains field engineering and operations talent
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and career growth pathways
  • Foster strong union partnerships
  • Build, forecast, and manage multi-million-dollar annual budgets
  • Drive cost efficiency, oversee materials, and optimize total cost
  • Maintain accountability for municipal rights-of-way, DOT permits, joint-use pole attachments, and environmental clearances

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive technical knowledge of Verizon infrastructure and Fiber Engineering & Operations footprint systems
  • Comprehensive understanding of FE&O field organization operations and coordination for HBW/LBW circuit turn-up
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in telecommunications operations
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of large-footprint carrier networks and systems
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Extensive hands-on experience and deep technical knowledge in outside plant telecommunications environments
  • Experience with underground and aerial fiber design, optical distribution networks, and large-scale fiber deployment
  • Wireless experience is a plus
  • 7+ years of relevant supervisory experience managing multi-tiered leadership teams
  • Proven track record leading large field and engineering teams in heavily unionized environments
  • Demonstrated success handling complex labor relations and union grievance processes
  • Experience working directly with union officials and interpreting collective bargaining policies
  • Advanced knowledge of cost estimating, budget preparation, and schedule performance for major CapEx/OpEx projects
  • Strong analytical and critical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to organize complex data, build strategic recommendations, and manage competing priorities
  • Proven ability to partner with internal departments, cross-functional peers, union representatives, and senior external stakeholders
  • Must work within the Boston Metro territory
