About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Building and maintaining Ansible-based automation for vRAN LCM workflows — including initial deployments, software upgrades, configuration management, and fallout remediation — across Ericsson, Samsung, and Corning vDU platforms
- Developing and maintaining automation for Far Edge hardware lifecycle management covering HPE, ZT Systems, and Dell vRAN server platforms (BIOS, firmware, OS, and driver management)
- Writing Python tooling to support automation workflows — REST API integrations, data processing, inventory management, and operational reporting
- Owning CI/CD pipelines that test, validate, and deploy automation code using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent tools
- Working with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB) to manage automation state, deployment history, inventory, and run data
- Troubleshooting automation failures across the full stack — from pipeline issues to failed playbooks to vendor API problems — and drive fixes through to resolution
- Participating in code reviews and maintain a high bar for code quality, test coverage, and documentation
- Building and maintaining dashboards and alerting integrations (Grafana, Kibana, Icinga) to track LCM automation health and delivery KPIs
- Maintaining documentation: playbooks, MOPs, design docs, and implementation guides for supported platforms
- Collaborating with operations, planning, and vendor engineering teams to translate network requirements into automation solutions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree or four or more years of hands-on work experience in lieu of degree
- Six or more years of experience in a DevOps, automation engineering, or platform engineering role
- Strong, production-grade Ansible skills — writing roles, playbooks, dynamic inventories, and custom modules
- Strong Python skills — clean, testable, maintainable code used in real automation workflows, not just one-off scripts
- Hands-on database experience — writing queries, managing schemas, and integrating databases into automation pipelines (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB)
- Solid CI/CD pipeline experience using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent
- Proficiency in Git-based workflows (Bitbucket, GitLab, or GitHub)
- Linux/Unix systems experience with solid Shell scripting skills
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Ability to work US Central Standard Time (CST) business hours (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CT), which corresponds to 6:30 PM to 3:30 AM Indian Standard Time
