About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop software for the Desktop Client team using C# and WPF
Code, debug, fix defects, research solutions, and develop features using modern techniques while working with legacy code
Attend daily stand-ups
Collaborate with team members
Plan and break down work and architect solutions with team members
Write clean, maintainable, flexible code using design patterns and sound code architecture
Participate in code reviews
Work with QA to test tasks and resolve bugs
Mentor other team members
Identify design flaws and performance problems
Provide feedback to product and management on potential improvements
Contribute with little to no supervision
Apply continuous integration concepts and processes
Interact with developers, Test Automation Engineers, QA, management, and members of other Verisk subsidiaries

Requirements

What you’ll need

5-10 years of experience or similar ability in software development
Excellent development skills and fluency in C#, .NET, MVVM, WPF, XAML, and related technologies for the Windows platform
Experience with testing frameworks
Knowledge of best practices for testing thick-client applications
Commitment to code and application quality
Extensive experience developing in a Windows environment
Very good understanding of and exposure to APIs and consuming RESTful services
Interest in continuous learning and staying current with technologies and industry best practices
Ability to create simple, well-designed solutions to complex software problems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent knowledge of software development tools and agile processes
Ability to work in an office environment with reasonable accommodation
