About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the architecture, design, and development of cloud-hosted web applications for the insurance industry, covering network infrastructure, user experience, database schema, data models, workflow automation, and end-to-end integration testing
- Define and own architectural standards, patterns, and best practices for AWS-native SaaS products
- Collaborate with product management, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Drive domain-driven designs for data models, APIs, and data products
- Architect and implement microservices using Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, and EKS
- Oversee CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes for rapid, reliable, and secure deployments
- Design and implement RESTful and GraphQL APIs for performance and scalability
- Develop functional, responsive, and accessible front-end interfaces using HTML5, CSS/SCSS, TypeScript, Angular/React, and UI component libraries such as Kendo UI and Infragistics
- Ensure application security through IAM policies, encryption, API security, and compliance with ISO 27001 and SOC 2
- Champion cloud-native and serverless architectures using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, and other AWS managed services
- Use AWS data services including Redshift, RDS, Aurora, and S3 to build scalable data-driven applications
- Lead proof-of-concept initiatives evaluating emerging AWS services and architectural approaches
- Mentor and guide development teams on architecture decisions, code quality, and performance optimization
- Support UI automation testing
- Collaborate with QA and DevOps teams on automated testing, monitoring, and observability using CloudWatch, X-Ray, and OpenTelemetry
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field required; Master’s preferred
- 8+ years of progressive experience in software engineering
- 2+ years in an AWS cloud-native architect role
- Experience designing and implementing AWS-native SaaS products and complex full-stack applications
- Strong expertise in .NET Core, C#, ASP.NET Core, Angular, React, and TypeScript
- Experience with AWS Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, and microservices deployed on ECS/EKS
- Proficiency with SQL and database programming for SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redshift, Aurora, and DynamoDB
- Experience designing secure, multi-tenant SaaS architectures
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working in cross-functional product teams
- Familiarity with AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or CDK
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or similar tools
- Experience implementing application monitoring and observability
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-team collaboration abilities
- Preferred: event-driven architectures using AWS SNS, SQS, or Kafka; AWS cost optimization; third-party API integrations; insurance platforms and regulatory compliance; Docker and Kubernetes
