About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, including customer agreements, software licenses, SaaS agreements, amendments, statements of work, and consulting agreements supporting Verisk Life Solutions.
Provide day‑to‑day legal support to sales, product, and operations teams by advising on contractual risk, privacy, intellectual property, and regulatory considerations.
Interpret and apply Verisk’s standard templates and playbooks, escalating non‑standard terms and risk issues as appropriate.
Collaborate with internal subject‑matter experts (e.g., privacy, compliance, security, product, and finance) to deliver practical and timely legal solutions.
Support contracting activities with customers, vendors, and strategic partners, including FAST‑related post‑acquisition integration matters.
Perform legal research and analysis related to commercial, data, intellectual property, and regulatory issues impacting Verisk Life Solutions products and services.
Contribute to continuous improvement of contract processes, templates, and internal guidance.
Handle additional commercial or corporate legal projects as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need

JD degree from a U.S.-accredited law school.
Admission to NJ State Bar or eligible for NJ in-house counsel limited license.
5+ years legal experience in commercial contracting, including software licenses and support services, gained in a law firm and/or in-house legal department.
Strong contract management experience, including drafting and negotiating, is required.
Experience in life insurance or financial services and interest in data preferred.
Privacy and intellectual property experience preferred.
Comfortable operating in a client-facing role.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Team-oriented. Values and emphasizes cooperation and teamwork across business units.
Strong work ethic and must be able to independently manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
