About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, including customer agreements, software licenses, SaaS agreements, amendments, statements of work, and consulting agreements supporting Verisk Life Solutions.
  • Provide day‑to‑day legal support to sales, product, and operations teams by advising on contractual risk, privacy, intellectual property, and regulatory considerations.
  • Interpret and apply Verisk’s standard templates and playbooks, escalating non‑standard terms and risk issues as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with internal subject‑matter experts (e.g., privacy, compliance, security, product, and finance) to deliver practical and timely legal solutions.
  • Support contracting activities with customers, vendors, and strategic partners, including FAST‑related post‑acquisition integration matters.
  • Perform legal research and analysis related to commercial, data, intellectual property, and regulatory issues impacting Verisk Life Solutions products and services.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of contract processes, templates, and internal guidance.
  • Handle additional commercial or corporate legal projects as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • JD degree from a U.S.-accredited law school.
  • Admission to NJ State Bar or eligible for NJ in-house counsel limited license.
  • 5+ years legal experience in commercial contracting, including software licenses and support services, gained in a law firm and/or in-house legal department.
  • Strong contract management experience, including drafting and negotiating, is required.
  • Experience in life insurance or financial services and interest in data preferred.
  • Privacy and intellectual property experience preferred.
  • Comfortable operating in a client-facing role.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Team-oriented. Values and emphasizes cooperation and teamwork across business units.
  • Strong work ethic and must be able to independently manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
